Planning to spend New Year’s Eve in Paris. Emily’s getting you all set for the big countdown with some amazing things to do in Paris – Where to eat; what to do . . . So here’s to a very happy new year!
The countdown begins! After hitting some of the best alternative Christmas Markets in Paris, now it’s time to ring in the New Year. But I know, it’s always so intimidating to make plans for New Year’s Eve – even more so when you’re in one of the most gastronomic, champagne-filled, fabulous cities in the world! The advantage of celebrating New Year’s Eve in Paris is that there are so many options for the evening that you can be sure to put together the perfect night for you. Want to drink bubbles and snack on small plates all night? Pas de problème. Looking for a swanky night out? A trendy bistro vibe? Oysters a go-go? Paris will come through on all your Champagne wishes and New Year’s Eve party resolutions if you just know where to go (and if you book in advance)! Here are a few suggestions to help you plan a magical New Year’s Eve in Paris.
1) For a Classic French New Year’s Eve
Yves Camdeborde’s empire has you covered for classic French cuisine during the fêtes. Each Comptoir incarnation is open every day of the week from noon to 10:30 pm and proposes small plates, full meals, and an excellent selection of wine. Head to Le Comptoir Bistrot for French food and an incredible wine list including an eclectic selection of Champagne and sparkling wines. L’Avant Comptoir de Mer has all your oyster needs covered along with a huge selection of seaside-inspired small plates that can be paired with a seemingly infinite selection of wines by the glass.
For modern French fun head to Cave Septime (3 Rue Basfroi, 75011 Paris) which will serve up bar snacks and wine until 11 pm on New Year’s Eve. The wine bar also sells bottles to go and Paris food guru Wendy Lyn, who has compiled a list of Paris bars and restaurants that will be open on New Year’s Eve, encourages you to “stock up your bottles ASAP before they sell out.”
You can’t get more classic than Le Bistrot Paul Bert which will be open during regular hours on New Year’s Eve. Be sure to reserve your spot in this bustling bistro well in advance if you want to be sure to get in one last steak frîtes before the new year.
Complete your French food and wine pairing with an iconic Paris experience to finish the year. Head to the Théâtre des Etoiles for a Cabaret Soirée that combines showmanship with a dance party and cocktail bar. If you’re not afraid of crowds, head to the Champs Elysées festivities which include light shows throughout the evening and fireworks at midnight and is the most quintessential New Year’s Eve in Paris you could imagine.
2) For a Fancy Night Out
If you want haute cuisine in a laid-back environment book a table at Le Saint Sebastien. This relatively new Paris restaurant has quickly become the city’s sweetheart, due largely to its exquisitely executed dishes and refined selection of craft beer and natural wine. The restaurant will be open for normal business hours on December 31st. Put on a tux or cocktail dress and head to the swanky Montmartre Hotel Particulier, which is hosting a fancy dress evening of New Year’s Eve fun including a 5-course meal followed by a DJ and dancing into the early morning hours.
If you’re looking to splurge plan on spending your night on the Seine during your Paris vacation. Paris City Vision is setting sail on the river with a New Year’s Eve City Tour and Dinner Cruise that includes a gourmet dinner followed by a DJ and dancing along with spectacular views of Paris by night.
3) For Dancing Your Way Into the New Year

Bust out your dancing shoes and dance 2019 away at one of the many dance parties proposed on New Year’s Eve in Paris. Wanderlust will be filling two indoor dance floors as it kicks out jams from the 90’s RnB and Groove classics at it’s No Diggity All Stars New Year’s Eve Party.
Classic 80’s hits will be cued up at the Bus Palladium for two floors of New Year’s Eve in this iconic club. Shake your booty at the Palais de Tokyo NYE Party where DJs will be spinning all night in this classy venue between the Champs Elysées and Eiffel Tower.
Get your feet wet at Aquaboulevard’s New Year’s Eve Pool Party, which promises a night full of splashing, dancing, and soaking up the final moments of 2019 accompanied by tropical temperatures!
